Mujeres EmprendedorasOn Saturday, Oct. 15th, 2022, the Midlands Latino CDC celebrated the graduation of 125 women from our Mujeres Emprendedoras business training program.

One of our most important programs, Mujeres Emprendedoras recognizes the power of our Latina community and provides modules in Financial Education, Entrepreneurship, and Business Administration to prepare women to step into the world of business ownership.

Graduates must have completed at least one module from Midlands Latino CDC’s offerings. Courses such as Accounting Fundamentals and Asset Building introduce future entrepreneurs to basics of accounting and saving for retirement.

The Mujeres Emprendedoras program has already paid dividends for hundreds of women in Omaha, including Claudia, a graduate who owns her own daycare business.

When she immigrated to the US, Claudia spoke very little English and had no experience managing finances or financial stability. Through Mujeres Emprendedoras, Claudia has increased her knowledge about household finances, business planning, and how to manage a daycare. Mujeres Emprendedoras Program Director, Maria Elena Castro, says Claudia has taken advantage of the programs Midlands Latino CDC offers to expand her knowledge, gain confidence, and be a support for her community and other women.

“Claudia is an example of dedication to achieve a goal,” Castro said. “She continues taking classes to improve her in-home daycare business and to help children to develop.”
