MLCDC uses the peer-lending group model to help the start-up of small businesses or to improve and grow existing businesses which do not have access to bank credit.
The current lending group, the Pioneers, has been together for two years and maintains a tightly-knit relationship among its members. At the monthly meetings, members review each other’s loan applications, receive business assistance, and help each other solve common business problems. Practical business training is part of the monthly meeting. MLCDC assists members with marketing, money management, advertising, customer relations and preparing a business plan.
Place of the meeting: MLCDC's office
Time: 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
The child care development program has a profound impact on the lives of children, the lives and households of the business owners (who are primarily women), and on the parents who must have safe and inviting places for their children to receive care during their working hours. Support for the child care development program will support daily program operations, networking meetings, continuing education, and resources that help improve the businesses and the expertise of child care providers.
