Increasing home opportunities in the Midlands

MLCDC supported the starting of Housing opportunities of the Midlands in 2016 with several business contractors and leaders from the community. This company will offer housing solutions to low income families and develop housing projects in the Midlands. They will start remodeling houses in South Omaha. 42 individuals are investing in this organization. They are planning to purchase two houses in South Omaha during 2017.

03-30-2017| Community Investments Opportunities (CIO)

Working in job creation and business expansion in South Omaha

Community Investment Opportunities LLC (CIO) purchased a property located at 5025 S 33rd Street Omaha, NE 68107. The total site area of this property is 5.53 AC and 246,740 SF. MLCDC supported the starting of CIO in 2010 with several business leaders from the community. On March 30th MLCDC’s staff and members of CIO will meet with engineers and staff from the area of economic development of OPPD to define the best way to energize the building and a solar development project. This meeting will be on March 30th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Easy way to increase the size of your business and prepare a business plan

Individuals wishing to apply for a loan or increase the size of their businesses attend a six week intensive training on how to increase the size of a business and develop a business plan. Those with a viable business plan continue with one-on-one technical assistance to implement the plan.

This program will be offered at the MLCDC's offices on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Classes and technical assistance to develop successful and sustained market responsive businesses

Classes are provided, which include: the tools needed to start a licensed business.

04-03-2017| Peer Lending Group Loan Meeting /Pioneers

MLCDC provides loans to business loan Group members.

MLCDC uses the peer-lending group model to help the start-up of small businesses or to improve and grow existing businesses which do not have access to bank credit.

The Pioneers, has been together for five years and maintains a tightly-knit relationship among its members. At the monthly meetings, members review each other’s loan applications, receive business assistance, and help each other solve common business problems. Practical business training is part of the monthly meeting. MLCDC assists members with marketing, money management, advertising, customer relations and preparing a business plan.

Selling an image for success. The child care development program has a profound impact on the lives of children, the lives and households of the business owners (who are primarily women), and on the parents who must have safe and inviting places for their children to receive care during their working hours. This class will be offered on April 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
