The importance of the MLCDC work

Paola is a single mother with six children. Working with MLCDC’s Child Care Development Program, she started a small in-home day care that enabled her to earn an income caring for other children while still caring for her own children. Her day care grew, and she decided to expand to become an out-of-home child care center.

MLCDC worked closely with Paola to help her understand the city and state regulations for child care centers and to develop a business plan for her larger child care. Today, Paola has opened her child care at a new location and is caring for children out-of-home. As the business grows, it is expected to create 10 jobs to help meet the significant need for quality child care among Omaha’s Latino community.
